Halloween Thrillers

Im a movie person. I love to sit down and randomly watch a scary/spooky/scare-you-pants-off/cute/funny Halloween movies, anytime of the year. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays hands down. So need a good movie for your Halloween party, the family, or just for fun?
Here are my top recommendations that are all pg-13 or less:

(In no particular order)

This is such a great one for anyone of all ages. Im 19 and I still look forward to watching every year while we carve pumpkins. Jack Skeleton is like my dream guy...ok maybe not but still I love him. The music is so catchy and I sing to it for days! I just cant say enough how much this movie rocks!
5 stars in my book

The Others. Nicole Kidman does a fantastic job in this film. Its pg-13 and goes to show that good scary movies dont have to be rated R. Its good clean scare and has an killer twist in the end. No pun intended, but seriously I love this film. I wouldnt exactly say this one is good for small kids, it can be nightmare material but great for Halloween.

Oooooooollldd School! This film was made before there were even any rating systems out there haha. I like it though. Its good and clean so you know its safe to show at any party. Its easy to laugh at but Im a horror film lover through and through so I suggest actually watching and try to enjoy the wonders of old school cinema. The plot is different then modern day films so its nice to mix it up once in a while.

The 6th sense. Ok so you know the twist at the end but that doesnt mean its not worth seeing again and again. (which I dont recommend, seeing a movie too much can make it lose its sparkle). Bruce Willis is always a good choice. So pop this puppy in for a good Halloween flash back.

Another flash back. I remember watchin this one as a kid and hated it because it was a little too spooky, plus I just hated it all together as a film but as I got older Ive come to love it becuase its fun but does have a little creepy vibe to it.

Well there you have it. Just a few of some of my favorite classic scary films that are great for everyone! Especially on a dark, rainy night, with the lights off, and all your closest friends. So thats a wrap...get it? haha

Have a good Halloween
Muuwwaahahahaha

Halloween Week: Fall Food

If there's one thing that's great about fall in general: the food.
These are some of my favorite things to make when the leaves start dropping!

Baked Oatmeal

1/2 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
1 TB brown sugar
3 cups of old fashioned oats
2 TB brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 TB baking powder
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
Beat together oil, white sugar, and 2 TB brown sugar. Mix in eggs, milk, salt, baking powder, and oats. Beat well then stir in raisins (optional). Pour in lightly greased baking dish (I used a (9x13 when I double the recipe). Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake 35 minutes or until firm.
Ah, I crave! I like to put mine in a bowl with milk, soy milk, or almond milk. My roommate from last year gave me this recipe and they would put creamer in it which sounds delish! I love that I can double the batch, make it the night before, and then I have leftovers for breakfast for days. Seriously, so good.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 box of spice cake mix
1 can of pumpkin (like Libby's)
1 bag or 1/2 bag of semi sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Mix cake mix, pumpkin, and chocolate chips (sometimes I used half a bag if I want more pumpkin flavor, sometimes more chocolate chips if I want more chocolate) into a large mixing bowl. Spoon onto a greased baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until finished.
Yield: 24-36 cookies
For reals, this is a staple recipe in my apartment. Last year, I can't count how many times we made these cookies. They're just so good and (lowfat)! The best thing is that you can make cookies or spoon them into muffin cups in a muffin tin and make muffins. Now I really want these.

Now for some of my favorite must-make recipes around the web. For serious, Pinterest is killing me with all these delicious ideas:
Pumpkin Pie Smoothie
Pumpkin Scones
Crockpot Apple Butter
Candy Corn Whoopie Pies
Halloween Candy Bark
Candy Corn Pudding

Veeeesty...

Know what's the pits?
When it's freakin cold outside and most of your warm clothing is two hours away!
Yeah, the pits. Because man, it's gotten cold the past couple days. Thankfully unlike Idaho, the snow has stayed up on the mountains for the past few days but I fear that the last beautiful days of fall are fading away!
So...Randi is wearing lots of layers. Lots and lots (FYI, Sanuks do not hold up very well in pouring rain. Not well at all).
Want to know what's a little awkward though? I texted this picture to my parents today with a note (backstory: my parents have been telling me to go buy warm stuff if I'm freezing. I'm cheap and I'd rather wait till I got home in two weeks). My dad answered saying I looked like I was having fun and did I buy that vest?
Dudes, I've had this vest since middle school.
So that's like from 6th grade and now I'm a sophomore in college.
Is it awkward that I've kept it for so long or that it even still fits?

Old Women are awkward on Saturdays.

Just because its saturday doesnt mean the awkward moments sleep in too. No, keep on comin. Heres mine.
I was doing my thing getting ready for the day. I was in the middle of plucking my eyebrows
(which is kinda weird I just told you that but whatev) when the phone rings
ring ring
And it was my old piano teacher who lives in our nieghborhood.

HISTORY LESSON: Chelsie took piano lessons when she was like 8 or around there. A long time ago and really disliked it....hated it. I was 8 ok? If it requires hard work of course Im gonna hate it, I was still practically a baby. Anyways, I eventually quit cause I could care less about it anymore.

Fast forward to present day now. I recieve this phone call and my piano teacher is looking for my mom
Shes not here
So we sit and chat for a moment when she says...

'Ya know, you were one of my failures.'

Ummm what? What am I supposed to say to that?
Now before anyone gets angry with this sweet old lady lets remember one thing...SHES OLD. So I let her continue on with her explanation. She goes on to say that she wished she wouldve pushed me more and worked harder on me and blah blah blah. So she took the blame for it but still....that doesnt mean it wasnt awkward.

Moral of the story: Watch out for old women, theyre awkward too.

Favorite Things Friday: Chelsie

Oh Hello Weekend, we do love you so! I hope everyone has some sweeto plans for this weekend. Halloween is this month so get to as many haunted houses, corn mazes, and watch as many scary movies as you can! I know I am.

Ok, if you read the previouse post youll know that there is snow sticking in Eastern Idaho. So that is why my #1 favorite thing is a good pair of boots

#1 Bear Claw Boots
I love these because they keep my feet so nice and warm! When I first got mine I water-proofed them really well (which I highly recommend before wearing them outside) and so they keep my toes dry too! When you live in Idaho, this can save your life for sure.

#2 Keeping on with the cold weather rant I love my Foursquare Melissa coat.

Mines blue, but its so nice and warm and super water proof. Plus plenty of pockets for anything and everything. Its got like 7 pockets haha. So awesome. Im wearing it right now haha. A good coat is a must have and, to me, is worth every penny.

#3 Scentys
I have the red one and it makes my room smell FANTASTIC! In the spring and summer I like it to smell like cherry limeade, in the fall I like the warm smell of oatmeal cookies (which is one of my personal favs) and right now when I turn it on it makes my room smell like cloves and cinnamon. Mmmmm so awesome! So when I get back from a long jog and am all sweaty and nasty, my room doesnt have to smell like my icky running shoes or sweaty shirt. Its smells gloriouse!
Whats great is you can get the scentys wax or other waxes sold at like walmart or target. They dont last as long but still smell just as good. YES

#4 A good toothbrush
I am obsessed with my teeth. Ive been through braces, retainers, vineers and it has been worth it all so that my smile makes me happy. Like one of my biggest fears in life is that Ill end up with dentures so I try to take good care of my teeth. So brushing is SOOOOO important. A good toothbrush is key to success haha. I always make sure I have a backup too so when my brush gets worn down Im ready. When is it time to change your toothbrush? When the bristles start flaring and fraying out or when the little color strips in the middle start going white. You should get a new brush every few months anyways. Helps keep your mouth clean and fresh:]

#5 YOU!
To everyonen who stumbles across our little blog or are faithful followers, we love you! You guys are awesome for checkin in with us and takin the time to read and share your thoughts. We love love love comments. Want to instantly put me in a good mood? All you have to do is comment on any post. Share with us your thoughts and ideas haha. We love our readers and just cant get enough of you. So keep on reading and share with your friends!

I hope everyone has an wonderful weekend! Its friday, be happy! Blast to your radio, throw a party, sleep in, stay up late, go to some place new, visit old friends, have good time.
And be safe!

Love you all

Fall? Idaho doesnt think so

So I think in most places the seasons go: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, back to Winter.
In Idaho it has a tendency to do whatever, whenever. Today for example, its October 6th and good 'ole Idaho has decided no Fall this year. No sir.
So when I got out of class today this is what I walked out to...

Oh yes, believe it. That is snow ladies and gentlemen. I have been freezing my little tail off all day! My little nose has been so cold and chilly. I cranked the heat and had to turn on my defrosters for the first time this year. This is so crazy and I have total mixed feelings about it.

I love fall, the colors changing, HALLOWEEN! I absolutely love love love halloween, the warm yet sweater temperatures. Im just not sure Im ready for this snow fall.
But it means snowboarding can come sooner as well! Which I also love love love.
But I dont like being cold
So its really mixed feelings.

Heres my advise for when cold weather hits you if it hasn't already.
  • When I felt the weather changing to colder, I made sure my big, nice warm coat was in the backseat of my car whenever I left.
  • A pair of gloves in the car really help when you get in and have to drive while waiting for the heater to warm up.
  • Taking a thermus full of hot chocolate to work or class is never a bad idea either haha, really keeps you warm...and happy:]
  • Get all of your winter clothes out, wash them (if needed) so that when you wake up one morning with a few inches of snow on the ground, you have more in your closet then short sleeves and tank tops (like me, oops)
  • Shoes. Oh how important are your shoes! Make sure you have a good pair of winter shoes, that fit. This is something I need to look more into. Im not sure my blue kicks will keep my toes dry when trucking through the slush. So a good pair of shoes for when your ouside are a must!
  • Get yourself a nice warm scarf that you can wear under your coat. I hardly leave anywhere without a scarf around my neck anymore in the winter. Ive been converted and its awesome, plus makes for a cute accessory:]
For anyone who lives in Idaho, dont worry there is still hope. Its supposed to be warmer this weekend and monday. So theres still a chance this will go away and come back later haha. Maybe its just mother natures way of keeping us humble. Who knows

Another side note- My lovely grams is supposed to drive here in this from Bear Lake. Pray the roads are good!

p.s my outside thermometer says 32.7 degrees right now...bbbrrrrr

Beam Some Good Thoughts

Hello, blaggy friends.
Just dropping in for a quick moment here. Let's think some good thoughts to Chels today. She's applying for her professional program of Sugical technology today.
Dudes, if you're some of my followers and you don't know Chels, then you don't even know how killer she would be at this. So beam some good thoughts up above that she gets in.
Applying for college programs and declaring majors is a funny thing. It's a little scary to sign your life away to a major and make the final decision that you want to do that for the rest of your days. I changed my program at the beginning of the semester and my friends, I had a mini panic attack afterwards.
So this is just us growing up!

Randi Dropped the Ball: Late Edition of Favorite Things Friday

Yeah...walk of shame for Randi...I dropped the ball on posting yesterday.
So here's an edition of Favorite Things Friday...just not on Friday.

#1: Pinterest

My friends, this is one of the most addictive sites out on the web. For serious. I can't take my laptop to class with me because I know that I would spend all my time on this during class. I HAVE AN ADDICTION TO PINNING.

#2: Best Buy's Opening Time
I love that Best Buy opens at 10:00am. Especially the mornings when I'm printing off a big fat paper for class and then my printer ink cartridge decides to die off on me. Then I can run to Best Buy as soon as it opens and buy a spankin' new ink cartridge. Crisis averted.

#3: Luna Bars

Hands down, the best nutrition bar eveeeeeeer. Especially this new flavor, Chocolate Raspberry. Sooooo good. I'm hoping they start selling this kind in boxes soon because I can't get enough of buying the single bar.

#4: Sam's Club
Sam's Club is super cool. I like having a membership so I can buy in bulk. Bulk is cool! Bulk is big! I can buy a gallon of milk there for a $1.60! Randi likes bulk. And the free sample days.

#5: General Conference Weekend
Friends, oh friends. I'm listening to this right now. It makes me crazy happy. If there is one thing you HAVE to do this weekend, listen to this. I can guarantee you leave feeling uplifted and loved, with much to think about.

In other words...
Awkward: It seems like this is the week of boys from Randi's past. Because they're all contacting me. It's weird. And strange. And disconcerting. And awkward.
