poor kids sell plasma

As a typical college student, I try to spend the least amount of money possible and bring in as much as I can. Enter, plasma donation. While some people may consider selling plasma as being less than favorable because of the circumstances of selling something from one's body, I am willing. I would probably sell a kidney if it wasn't illegal... yeah anyways, I went and donated plasma on Tuesday and there was a whole round of tests and questions that I had to answer and complete before I could even start pumping the plasma.
Here are my thoughts from my donation:
-the finger prick hurts almost worse than the donation itself
-one gets asked the same questions over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over.
-the whole questionnaire part probably would have gone faster if I could have just said, "No, I've never done drugs, I've never had sex, and I've never been to Africa or exposed to AIDS/HIV." All the while, I was wearing my Institute tee-shirt.
-my two favorite questions were probably 1) "Are you ears pierced and currently open?" I was wearing earrings that day. Muahaha. 2) "Have you ever been pregnant or are currently so?" No sir. 3) "Are you breastfeeding?" Again, negatory.
-I was at the plasma center from 3:30pm-6:50pm.
-the needle that the physicians use is FREAKING HUGE.
-it's probably not a good thing when you're donating plasma and then guy sticking you with a needle says, "Oh, that's not supposed to be happening..." and then you look and see that your vein is turning into a lump the size of a quarter. Just saying.
-getting a giant ice pack taped to said arm from above and then having two immobilized arms.
-seeing an old boyfriend from high school whom you haven't seen for about five years. That's all I'm saying about that.
-THE CROWNING AWKWARD MOMENT OF THE ENTIRE VISIT: getting a male physician for the physical. Who happens to be cute and around the same age as you. And then that whole awkward moment when he has to listen to your breathing and heartbeat under your shirt. With his cold hands. No worries, there was a female physician in there at the same time. Oh and then when they're pumping blood out of you and BOTH your arms hurt and you're breathing in and out of your mouth so you don't cry/throw up, he happens to come from the front room and check on you. Awwwwwkward.

Also, gnaaarly bruise my friends.

Oh, and I'm going again today.
All for the money, my friends.

O Holy Night?

Can you believe Christmas is on Sunday?! I feel like I had all this Christmas spirit after Thanksgiving and then it all died when I got to finals week. No worries, I survived and am now home for the holidays! But here's a nice little awkward video that gets me and my dad and younger brother laughing like nobody's business...

Breath War

Ok let me start off by saying that I love Pickles! Dill pickles. They are seriously like my favorite. I dont know why but sometime I crave them, sometimes I cant stop eating them, sometimes my mouth waters when I just think about them. Ya, I like pickles...alot.
Weird I know.

Well my mom doesnt buy em too much cause at my house they go fast. If we bought a new jar of pickles everytime the old one was gone, we'd be poor from buying so many pickle jars. Anyways, I woke up this morning to see a new jar in the fridge.

OH BOY!

So as I did laundry, studied, cleaned house and got ready for the day I snacked on pickles here and there. It was yummy. Thing about pickles though is they make your breath smell pretty gnarly. So its time for me to go to class (second to last one of this semester by the way) and I realize my breath is gonna smell like the garbage pile from the pits of hell or something (I imagine that to be pretty bad).

So I tried to mask it with some mint gum and just planned not to talk to anyone face to face today.

Then I ran into an old classmate I hadnt seen in awhile.

We chatted...

...face to face

And it was awkward cause I was afraid I smelled like a gallon of pickles.

Lesson: Dont eat alot of pickles and if you do, brush your teeth...twice...and chew gum.

Oh man, how awkward.

and we work together.

Awkward 'reunion'?

Just plain awkward.

Dreams arent always wishes my heart makes

For the sake of protecting peoples identity and my pride Im going to leave out names and only put first name initials.

Real life: So a few nights ago I had this really weird dream. Sometimes I have very pleasent dreams, ya know the ones that make you not want to wake up but to just keep dreaming it. Others you are so glad to wake up from because who knows what wouldve happened if you stayed asleep. Well this was one of those dreams.

Dream: It started out with me and an old friend from highschool that I still keep in touch with but hadnt seen in quite a while. We were sitting at my Grandmas house, only this time I dont think she was my grandma. So we are sitting there watching tv when another friend, T, comes in- a male.

Real Life: T is more of an acqaintance to me. We hang out every now and then but more rarely. To be honest he's kind of a nasty dude. He's covered from head to toe in tattoos (not baggin on tatoos, just sayin for this guy they dont look so nice) and Im not sure how his personal hygiene is...ya ewe.

Dream: Anyways we are sitting there and he tells me to come over to the side of the room hes on. So I walk over and he stands up and kinda starts talking to me but also starts putting on some moves.
WHAT!
He tries to kiss me and as he does so I gently/ yet forcefully push him back into his chair and walk away into the living room.

Here is where one of my closest friends is sitting, K

Real Life: K and I grew up together. He honestly is more like a brother to me, so to have him in a dream of mine just isnt very weird too me. Its just like dreaming about a family member.

Dream: So we sit chatting when yet again, another friend shows up, M. Apparently M is the one that lives here with my grandma who isnt really my grandma. We start talking about setting up a projector in the front yard and watching a movie.

Real Life: No my grandma does not have this kind of technology in her home so that part was kinda weird too haha.

Dream: Well at this point theres alot of people in the room now but I cant remember everyone. So K and I sit contemplating the idea. He thinks it would be fun but for some reason Im getting the vibe that  M only wants to do this so we can cuddle, which Im not ok with.

Real Life: So then I wake up!

Weird because a nasty guy I hardly know kissed me and another kinda nasty guy I hardly know wanted to cuddle with me.

I woke up feelin kinda grossed out and very awkward.

Fire Drills in Idaho Winters= bad idea

Ya wanna know whats funny?

When the fire alarm goes off during class and its snowing outside.
Correction: Blizzarding outside.
How awesome is that.

Whats awkward (and Im really trying not to sound mean) but a woman in my class is a bit of a larger lady and her shirt was all bunched up in the front, leaving some of her underwear exposed.
The whole class couldnt help but stare

It was kinda awkward.
I felt bad, but it was still awkward and hard not to stare.

True Friends

This post is mainly for the women...or for guys if they want to know how to really get on her good side.

True friends will bring you tampons when your desperate and cant get them yourself
 even if he's a guy
 and its awkward.

Take note gentlemen.

Deadly Waters

(This was a post I posted on my personal blog, but how could I resist sharing it here)

Who would have thought that this could be dangerous?

This small piece of heaven that warms my body and soul.

Brings me utter relaxation and blissful joy.

This wondrous pool of magical healing/cleaning abilities.

Truth is... these bubbles of happiness are silent destroyers.

Quiet, pretty, fun but not safe...at.all.

And perhaps it is partly my fault as well.

Ok a huge part.

I abused my sudsy bubbles

Underestimated them.

Im sorry

Turns out you can not give your phone a bath

So, the lesson learned in all of this?

Showers are better

On the bright side- At least it wasnt the potty!

Creepy Boys= Awkward dodging

So I dont know about some of you but I think I have yet to master the art of 'what to do when a creep asks for your number.'

Its awkward No Matter What.

This has happened to me on a few occasions, why cant a hot babe ask me for my number!

So heres a story: One time at a church gathering and a young man (who was a couple years older, dont worry not that young) and I were among a small group of people all chatting away. I honestly dont know how this happened but somehow that sneaky dude singled me out from the rest. Like a sheep herder separates his flock or something. And tries to engage me in conversation. Im a little nervous cause Im afraid where this is going but I try very hard to be polite because he is a nice boy. I try again and again to break away but he is good, oh so good.

Finally, as if this isnt awkward enough already, he pops that question.

'So could I ask you out sometime?'

In my mind: 'No, your creepy, weird, kinda smelly, and I have no interest whatsoever, so get lost'

What came out my mouth: 'Oh, sure. That would be fun, ok'

Crap

So comes the awkward exchanging of numbers that you know if he ever calls your gonna do your best not to answer. So I try to make small talk to break the awkward shield thats come around me by saying how my phone doesnt do calls very well (which is totally true, its a piece because it usually makes me sound mumbly or under water) so I say texting is great if he wants. After that I do my very best to get the heck out of there fast.

Fast forward 2 weeks (which is also weird, get a girls number and wait 2 weeks to contact? I wont complain too much cause I was sort of glad but still, really?) Anyways, fast forward and I get a text from unnamed boy, I immediately know who it is. So I...

... 1. Do not respond
2. Save number so I know not to answer or respond again should he try to recontact
3. Feel sort of sorry as I delete the recent message so as not to be tempted to text back.

I know maybe Im a terrible person but Im Chelsie, and I guess Im shallow and rude and disgusting, but hey, it got me out of a super weird, awkward date! Thats a plus in my book haha.

Now I just have to avoid him every week at church so as not to run into the awkward situation of 'Hey I texted you, did you get it, whats up, blah blah blah'

Awesome

An Awkward Story then Just a Regular One...

Duuuuuuuudes (lately I say this all the time, it's like I turned into a 13 year old boy). I just finished a beast of a paper. My brain feels like its going to die. So here's an awkward story for you:
I got a wasp stuck in my hair yesterday.
Except I didn't really know that I did. Until I sat down in class and this girl, got out of her seat, came over to me and was all, "Um, you have a wasp in your hair. Do you want me to flick it out?" And inside I'm like, "Oh yeah, just leave it in there, NO OF COURSE I WANT YOU TO FLICK IT OUT!!!!!!!" But on the outside I managed a "Oh, that would be great, please."
So she did. Then she went and stepped on it. And I was eternally grateful. But the rest of class I felt all itchy and then I looked up towards my bangs and there was a tiny spider on my bangs. So I flicked him out and squashed him. So apparently I was the bug lady yesterday. I swear, I washed my hair, promise.
But that kinda leads me to today. I've been working on this paper since I got back from class at 9:00am. I didn't go to ZUMBA. I didn't go to Institute. Guys, I haven't even showered. Just worked on this paper all day long. And it's not even the longest paper I've ever written, just the most boring. So from 9:00am to 5:00pm, I researched and worked on a paper. Blah.

Here's some of my tips to get you through a writing a paper:
-Get a bunch of highlighters out and color code your note cards. You'll feel smarter.
-Put in your headphones so you don't get distracted by outside noises.
-Take breaks to talk to your best friend. Then she can give you advice like this, "Go write my friend, write like the wind and my advice is that if you smoke a doob right before you'll pass for sure." Then you can make it your Facebook status. Thanks Chels.
-Don't talk to your best friend for too long...cause she can be distracting to your academic attention span and then you can't stop laughing.
-Take a break and play your guitar (or instrument of choice) really really really loud.
-Have a good pep talk with yourself. Jump around. Put your hair in a big, floppy bun on your head.
-Upon immediate completion of said paper, have a dance party in your kitchen. I recommend this tune. I danced like I was a cool kid.

P.S. I Skyped with Chels last night. It was a whole lotta fun. I felt like I was back at home with her.
P.S.S. I'M GOING HOME TOMORROW. I don't have school Friday. Holla!
That means I still need to pack, and go get gas, and do my math homework.
Then I can do all sorts of fun stuff. Like hang out with Chels for real!

Tampons

Yes, I titled this tampons. Consider it an attention grabber and a warning label all in one.

Ya wanna know whats awkward?....

Walking through Walmart with 3 I repeat 3 HUGE boxes of tampons. Yes I said it, tampons. With all three boxes combined thats a total of 162 tampons. Woa...thats a lot haha. Usually when you do the awkward walk to the register your only holding one box, which may be easy to conceal or keep slightly hidden but with 3 HUGE boxes of anything its awkward trying to hold all of them without a cart.

So there was no use trying to hide the fact that I was holding giant boxes of tampons. Everyone knew.

Plus I got a male cashier who looked slightly surpised at such a big purchase. I dont think he was bothered by the product being purchases...just the amount

I like to buy in bulk, so what?

Saturday, October 8

Old Women are awkward on Saturdays.

Just because its saturday doesnt mean the awkward moments sleep in too. No, keep on comin. Heres mine.
I was doing my thing getting ready for the day. I was in the middle of plucking my eyebrows
(which is kinda weird I just told you that but whatev) when the phone rings
ring ring
And it was my old piano teacher who lives in our nieghborhood.

HISTORY LESSON: Chelsie took piano lessons when she was like 8 or around there. A long time ago and really disliked it....hated it. I was 8 ok? If it requires hard work of course Im gonna hate it, I was still practically a baby. Anyways, I eventually quit cause I could care less about it anymore.

Fast forward to present day now. I recieve this phone call and my piano teacher is looking for my mom
Shes not here
So we sit and chat for a moment when she says...

'Ya know, you were one of my failures.'

Ummm what? What am I supposed to say to that?
Now before anyone gets angry with this sweet old lady lets remember one thing...SHES OLD. So I let her continue on with her explanation. She goes on to say that she wished she wouldve pushed me more and worked harder on me and blah blah blah. So she took the blame for it but still....that doesnt mean it wasnt awkward.

Moral of the story: Watch out for old women, theyre awkward too.

Randi Dropped the Ball: Late Edition of Favorite Things Friday

Yeah...walk of shame for Randi...I dropped the ball on posting yesterday.
So here's an edition of Favorite Things Friday...just not on Friday.

#1: Pinterest

My friends, this is one of the most addictive sites out on the web. For serious. I can't take my laptop to class with me because I know that I would spend all my time on this during class. I HAVE AN ADDICTION TO PINNING.

#2: Best Buy's Opening Time
I love that Best Buy opens at 10:00am. Especially the mornings when I'm printing off a big fat paper for class and then my printer ink cartridge decides to die off on me. Then I can run to Best Buy as soon as it opens and buy a spankin' new ink cartridge. Crisis averted.

#3: Luna Bars

Hands down, the best nutrition bar eveeeeeeer. Especially this new flavor, Chocolate Raspberry. Sooooo good. I'm hoping they start selling this kind in boxes soon because I can't get enough of buying the single bar.

#4: Sam's Club
Sam's Club is super cool. I like having a membership so I can buy in bulk. Bulk is cool! Bulk is big! I can buy a gallon of milk there for a $1.60! Randi likes bulk. And the free sample days.

#5: General Conference Weekend
Friends, oh friends. I'm listening to this right now. It makes me crazy happy. If there is one thing you HAVE to do this weekend, listen to this. I can guarantee you leave feeling uplifted and loved, with much to think about.

In other words...
Awkward: It seems like this is the week of boys from Randi's past. Because they're all contacting me. It's weird. And strange. And disconcerting. And awkward.

Anonymous Awkward

'Today, my mother followed me to work to see what I got up to. I'm a fitness instructor in a ground floor gym that has big windows overlooking the street. She stood outside and waved at me for half an hour, while I tried to concentrate on teaching a visibly amused class'.

Awkward.

'Today while waiting in line at Gamestop, I overheard the cashier and another customer chatting about how Poke'mon was for kids and anyone who's into it over 10 is weird...I put my Poke'mon game back on hte shelf and snuck out of the store'.

Awkward.

Allergies are Awkward

Allergies are awkward.
Especially when they make your eyes feel like they're on fire. So they water profusely. And you have the sniffles.
And all of this coincides when you're taking a math test. So consequently, I'm pretty sure all my classmates this morning thought I was having a breakdown during my test due to the tears rolling down my face and the sniffles.

Oh, and remember this post? Yeah well, I used the same bathroom today and I definitely avoided the dangerous stall...only to find that the stall I was in didn't have a door that STAYED CLOSED. Of course, I found this out at an inopportune moment. This bathroom has some bad ju-ju. Good thing that this bathroom is always empty....

Awkward.

Awkward Photos

My friends, this was too good to miss taking a picture...THE MAN MULLET.

What is awkward about this you say? The fact that I was walking to class and basically speed walked my little backpack carrying tush behind him so I could take a picture. Discreetly, naturally. p.s. He even has a man purse.

Oh, and then there's this beauty...
Sick. Nasty. Hairball.
I forgot how much hair accumulates on the carpet in my apartment.
Awkward why? Because I just posted about it.

Bam. Awkward.

Even my neighborhood is awkward

So once upon a time I had just finished jogging for the morning. I was standing behind a church when I decided I needed to stretch as I cooled down. I bent down to touch my toes and just happened to look between my legs to see an old lady and her grandson behind me walking down the sidewalk in my direction.

Here I am with my rear end up in the air pointed right at them with shorts on.

Awkward.

By the way, they crossed the street and I took of running again to avoid facing them directly.

Again Ill say it...

...Awkward.

Locked In The Bathroom Stall

Oh my friends, does the awkwardness ever stop?
Indeed it does not, or we would not have this blog.
I got locked in a bathroom stall this week.
No joke.
I went to use the restroom about ten minutes before my last class of the day. When I was finished with my business, I went to leave my stall AND THE DOOR WOULDN'T UNLOCK.
Now, I know how to unlock a bathroom stall door. And this one was definitely not opening. I jiggled it, wiggled it, hit it, shook it, and abused it well. No budging. I was the only person in the bathroom. So I did what any self respecting college student would do in order to get to class on time.
I pushed my backpack out in front of me in the space between the bottom of the door and the floor, and crawled on my belly to freedom.
Laughing the whole time and praying that no one would come into the bathroom at that moment.
It still makes me giggle.

Awkward.

Tackling this beast part 2

Organzing my closet space was quite the job. It took two days! But sooo well worth it because now I have so much space! Okay, to pick up where we left off last time (see tackling the beast part 1).
My closet is just so full of JUNK. Things that I put in baskets and piles and said 'Ill go through this later to see what I need to keep', Ive been saying that for the past year now. Well its about time I chucked all that lame garbage. Nobody likes garbage mess.

So before I go on youve gotta picture this. You need to realize that in highschool my closet was full of pictures and random things and I havent changed anything since then, so thats almost two years ago that I havent done any deep cleaning (ouch). Well on one of my shelves I put all of my highschool dance photos that I had ever gone to (ya know, like homecoming and prom etc.) I had even kept all my corsages and had them there haha, I know just picture how cheesy this looks.

Heres where it gets awkward:

So my little brothers friends all come over and they are pretty good at making themselves at home, no biggie. So they come in to my room asking what in the world I am doing. Well one boy walks over to my closet and looks at this shelf and says something along the lines of...
'What are you going to do with your shrine?'

Oh gosh! How embarrasing, I wasnt sure how to reacte so I just played it  as cool as I could but on the inside I was thinking 'This has to come down!'

So after the mature adults left I went back to work, and yes, all the pictures went into my scrapbook box so someday I hopefully either get the sense to hide them forever or find a different hiding place haha, who knows but theyre out of sight for now. As for the corsages....

Theyre toast

As I thought about it, its the memories that matter anyways, not the actual object. So those are going in the trash. I still have the pictures so maybe one day I can pull them out with my kids and laugh at how weird the style was back then, whatever.

Laundry Rooms are Awkward...

Here's a story:
At my apartment complex we have a laundry room located in the basement of the apartment building across from mine.
There are eight washing machines and four dryers.
Want to know what's awkward about it?
When you run into someone you know whilst you're transporting your undies and such to the dryers.
It's all, "Hey nice to see you too, let my hide my brightly colored underwear from you since you're of the male species and you don't have clearance to see these."
And then you drop something. And he goes to pick it up. Then he pauses. And doesn't pick it up after all. And you're wishing the floor would swallow you whole.

Awkward.
